Pope Benedict XVI on Vatican II

The Pope gives his thoughts on this vital event in the life of the Church. The Year of Faith, which has recently started, was instituted in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council (1962- 1965). A critical moment in the history of the Church, not just in the 20th century, the Council has been much debated, lauded, derided and misunderstood.
